Nylon for jigheads

Recommended Posts

Hello all, im new here and never tied a single lure.

I just made a mold for pouring jigheads and would like some help for tying them.

I would like to tie them with the same material as lindy uses on ther quiver jigs which

is listed as super-fine denier nylon. Its has a ton more movement than marabou.

I also have no equipment and need to know what tools would make tying these easier other

than a vise,bobbin,scissors. Hair stacker?

I use super fine Antron Polyester for trailing shucks on emergers, I bet that it would work well. I would suggest feather craft http://www.feather-craft.com/wecs.php?stor...mp;target=TD027 or water silk by Fly tyers dungeon http://www.flytyersdungeon.com/Materials/water_silk.htm

Cheers, Futzer.

PS. your tool list it good, but you do not need a hair stacker using synthetics as you can clip them to length.

Welcome! "super-fine denier nylon" could be a lot of things. I would agree with Futzer, but perhaps also send a sample of the Lindy jig to the Mad Scientist (the owner) at Fly Tyers Dungeon after you contact him. I'm sure he could match it better that way. They have a lot of great material that could be used for jigs!
