S.H.W.D (Soft-Hackle Willowfly Dry)

It floats because it has normal grizzly dry fly hackle under the soft-hackle, but with the soft-hackle it lands more gently.

And some fine mess it is! :clapping: I realy like partridge in large mayflies (e.g. the Danica kind).

 

Also worth considering is using 2-3 CDC feathers instead of cock for the hackle. It becames waterlogged a bit sooner, but CDC has more action and nice translucent feel.

With CDC it looks like this. This is done on a #10 hook, could be a bit bigger. Mayflies are HUGE!
