camoham 0 Report post Posted December 29, 2008 nice looking fly and tie. hows that one float? camoham
j. michael 0 Report post Posted December 29, 2008 It floats because it has normal grizzly dry fly hackle under the soft-hackle, but with the soft-hackle it lands more gently.

mlwebb 0 Report post Posted December 30, 2008 I like it - reminds me of Lafontaine's "Mess", although different. Pretty, too.
Firetiger 0 Report post Posted December 30, 2008 And some fine mess it is! :clapping: I realy like partridge in large mayflies (e.g. the Danica kind). Also worth considering is using 2-3 CDC feathers instead of cock for the hackle. It becames waterlogged a bit sooner, but CDC has more action and nice translucent feel. I will try that trick with the C.D.C. Thanks for the tip.
