Nymph Fishing

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I recently went fishing and tried a few nymphs that I had tied up, unfortunately with no success.

This might sound kind of dumb but I was wondering if anybody could give me some tips on how to fish using a nymph

Dude that is almost a loaded question there are so many ways to fish a nymph one book that helped me was nymph fishing for larger trout by Charlie brooks but many may disagree with me he kinda has a following that you either love or hate his writing i like his writing but first we need to know what species your target fish is and then go from there this is a great question with all this knowledge on the forum. I probally fish more dead drift with an Indicator while nymphing than not! but i lose a lot of flies to the rock's because i strike at everything

cheers Rick

I was fishing for sea run browns at the time,

I was also fishing dead drift and being an idiot i forgot my indicators at my house.

Many of us do not use indicators but watch the line. I have good luck dead drifting nymphs and just flicking the wrist when I see a pause in the line. Some conditions call for indicators but I feel I connect more on my hook sets without em.
