Compara-dun/Sparkle Dun Swap

Recommended Posts

Woohoo! Done! :headbang:

OK. Here is my revised sparkle dun. I wasn't happy with the first version, plus I just got some Z-lon and some Comparadun deer hair. I think these look a lot better than the polypro and mangy Black Hills deer version. :hyst:

I'll get them shipped ASAP.

And me too:

Recipe

Hook: #14 TMC100BL

Thread: Dark olive

Shuck: Brown z-lon

Rib: Brown floss

Abdomen: Gray olive super fine

Wing: Dark deer hair (comparadun natural)

Thorax/Head: Gray olive super fine

Tied Charlie Craven style, adding the wing after the abdomen is dubbed. I'm still pretty new at this (been tying for about 3 months), so any feedback you pros have is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

millerwb, they should be in the mail tomorrow.

John

I'm in. With a Comparadacktle. This pattern is a killer :gun_bandana: :gun_bandana: on the Skagit River just north of the Canadian Border.

When I lived in B.C. I used to frequent your town on beautiful sunday afternoons. I had to go there to get Maritime beer that they didn't sell in B.C. Had to go to another country in order to get a beer from Nova Scotia. ( 1980's) Go figure. Always had a good time in your neck of the woods.

Received the first set today. Looked good but no toe tags. Guys, please be sure to include a toe tag on your flies.

Thanks,

Brian

Doh!!! That was me. I was so preoccupied with getting a box and a return envelope that I forgot to do the obvious. Please millerwb, could you tag them for me? I feel like such a dope! :wallbash:

Did a variation of your suggestion. Hope they are of decent quality. Tried hard for my first comps.

This was a challenge. Thank you. I actual feel like I may have ended up with the knack.

Deer Hair Comparadun, yellow

wing - deer hair

body wrap - turkey quill

tail - micro tibit

Those should look really nice with the turkey quill abdomen. Can't wait to see/fish them!
