Good Source About Poppers

Recommended Posts

Can anyone recommend a good book about making poppers for someone who is completely clueless on the subject. Im not sure if such a catch all source exists but I would like to find one that covers both deer hair and wood/foam, if not one on each would be ok. Ive found some articles on the internet but a book is much easier for me to use with my current set up.

Thanks,

Chance

you might want to check warmwaterflytyers.com pattern section, as well as of course this site. There are some excellent tutorials at warmwater, and I don't think you can beat the experience you will find here to get help with your questions.

Found these titles at Amazon:

1: The Art of Tying the Bass Fly: Flies for Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, and Pan Fish (Spiral-bound)

2: Bluegill Fly Fishing & Flies (Paperback)

3: Hot Bass Flies (Paperback)

4: Bass Bug Basics: Simple Techniques for Tying Deer-Hair Flies (Fly-Tying) (Paperback)

Hope this helps

Read the fifth post from the following first link, and here are a few others that you might find useful. I would also recommend going to your local library.

Thanks guys Ill have to check some of those books out when I get back and stupid me never even thought about the library. I think Ill also have to rig up a stand for my laptop by my tying station also. I know there is a ton of info online but it is hard getting up and running from one room to another when I forget a step. And yeah I just realized I could print the patterns out :wallbash:.

Chance,

Get a copy of Bug Making by C. Boyd Pfeiffer. Good book by and innovative and resourceful tyer/angler. I suspect it's exactly what you're in search of. Your local bookstore can order a copy in for you to view prior to purchase if you're unsure.
