Solly 0 Report post Posted April 24, 2009 Can anyone please help with the method of tying the abdomen of the O.B. Nymph as tied by renafli. I don't have a problem with the thorax and the wing-case but I am stumbled by the bicolor latex overlay of the dubbed abdomen and the ribbing that gives it such nice segmentation. Thank you,

It would indeed appear as per the recipe, with the addition of a (mono?) rib. Cheers, Hans W

Solly 0 Report post Posted April 24, 2009 Sorry - still learning how to use the forums. Thanks for the reply, Norm. I understand from the picture what you are saying, but it appears to me as though the front of the abdomen and the back of the abdomen are covered with different color latex. Or are they the same and does the tyer use permanent marker on the back (top)?
flytire 0 Report post Posted April 25, 2009 just think of tying a czech nymph or send renafly a PM for the tying instructions
Flytier 0 Report post Posted April 25, 2009 Solly, Looking at the image, and the recipe details, I would say the abdomen is covered in wrapping the latex strip from bend to eye over the underbody, whereas the darker strip is simply stretched over the back from bend to eye. Makes sense? Cheers, Hans W

renafly 0 Report post Posted April 26, 2009 Can anyone please help with the method of tying the abdomen of the O.B. Nymph as tied by renafli. I don't have a problem with the thorax and the wing-case but I am stumbled by the bicolor latex overlay of the dubbed abdomen and the ribbing that gives it such nice segmentation. Thank you, Hello Solly, I'm going to try to explain the method of tying the abdomen of O.B. nymph.Firstly, I tie the back by using the brown body stretch. Secondly, I tie the whole body by using olive dubbing and then I rib the whole body by latex. On the top of the latex I tie the body stretch for the back and then rib it by nylon of 0.16 mm. That's the method I use and I hope I could help you. All the best Renato!
renafly 0 Report post Posted April 26, 2009 Solly, I missed to mention that I used the permanent marker under the body stretch of the back. All the best Renato
