Harold Ray 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2009 Very nice fly; you did a good job on the body. Is that lace, and is there oil inside the tubing? Ray

Fly Tyer Guy 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2009 Thanks guys. Ray, it is not Larva Lace, it's just regular V-Rib, light olive over a black thread underbody.
Redwings1 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2009 Good looking fly Dustin. You tie any with CDC instead of ZLon?
Fly Tyer Guy 0 Report post Posted June 6, 2009 No, not really, I like the look of poly yarn over CDC. Thanks guys for the feedback!

Fly Tyer Guy 0 Report post Posted June 7, 2009 Those are nice, what is under the body, Is it just the hook, or gold tinsel or something similar to that?

mouse6196 0 Report post Posted June 11, 2009 I tied a half dozen of these and hit the river yesterday with them in the box. I addded a bit of CDC in the winging and used crystal flash under clear olive larvae lace. the crystal flash under the lace, simulates the little air bubbles emergers carry with them to the surface. Of the 4 browns I landed, 2 were on this pattern. It's now a proven fly for me. Thanks for sharing.

Steelie May I add, glow in the dark pearl, as my ancient Chinese secret. Cheers, Jeff. Good Day, Speaking of "glow in the dark"... I also tie a caddis pupae using one of those egg shaped rubber glow beads usually used for walleye or saltwater fishing as the abdomen of the pupae.
