rockworm 0 Report post Posted June 7, 2009 Great design! Does it float?
Wellman 0 Report post Posted June 7, 2009 Thanks. It floats for 2 sec then starts to sink.
rockworm 0 Report post Posted June 7, 2009 I don't know much about boatmen. Does the plastic bead represent an air bubble? egg sac?
Wellman 0 Report post Posted June 7, 2009 To be honest it represents nothing. Its just there for weight. For some reason the Browns love this fly. I wish I had pics from last week when this fly "killed" them.
Joe Hard 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2009 Thanks for sharing the fishing info, it looks like a hot pattern to me. How did you get it to float for that long, lol

navigator37 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2009 Cool looking boatman. Have to try that one. The bead looks like the sheen a boatman gets when it dives back down.
txflytier 0 Report post Posted August 16, 2009 Great looking fly. what other colors do you ty it in?
marc fauvet 0 Report post Posted August 16, 2009 nice fly Wellman ! some boatmen (there's several kinds) come up to the surface to get an air bubble and bring it back down. it's amazing that they can do that. that bead makes it very life-like and quite perfect for reproducing that descending moment. i'm sure it's a super hot fly. thanks for sharing. cheers, marc
Wellman 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2009 Sorry all who replied during the summer. I was at my cabin the whole summer. Probably my best year for Blood Worm/ chromriod fishing. Joe Hard - I got it to float by adding a little bit of floatant. txflytier - I have this pattern in 5 colors. Black, Olive, Peacock, Brown, Rusty brown.
