Metz or Whiting?

Recommended Posts

Hello guys,

is there anybody who could advise me any good e-shop with capes by Whiting, Metz or Keough in the Europe?

Thanx a lot

Here is a source for Whiting and Metz in the UK:

Hope this helps.

By the way, I agree that Whiting is the best if you can afford it. Once you use it, anything else will be a let down. Metz is good, though, if you are on a budget.

What about Keough? Is e.g. Keough Hackle Cock Cape Master's good alternative to Metz or Whiting?

I love palmering Whiting feathers behind the hook eye. I start by tying down at the front, just behind the hook eye, and wrapping backward as far as I want and then wrapping forward again over the already palmered feather. It makes an unbelievably beautiful, and very thick, neck for the fly. After that, I often trim the bottom fibers so the fly will sit on the surface film.

I use Whiting and love it. Amazing what genetics can do!

Yes, of course, Whiting is the top, however quite expensive :dunno: I though that Keough could be some alternative?
