lykos33 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2009 Have no access to pike but I think an aggressive predator like pike should like the light colored head and the flash in the tail! Especially contrasting the dark body and tail.

Chance, I don't know a thing about pike flies, but I was thinking the same thing TitanFlies said. Bet the largemouths would explode on it. Mike

Arkansas Mike 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2009 And we dont have any thing close to pike here in Tx. I just like tring new patterns and new flies. I was wondering about the pike/Texas thing. I lived in Texas for the first 12 years of my life and never heard of anybody fishing for pike. 'Course, that was a loooong time ago, and I certainly don't know everything. I definitely understand about liking to try new patterns and new flies. I've been kind of jealous of SmallieFanatic ever since he tied his "Sammy The Seal" great white fly. LOL Mike

Futzer 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2009 Nice work Chance, I would cup the head a bit to move big water. Nearly all my pike and tigers have come on crawdad patterns, like the meatwhistle. Cheers, Jeff.

Cheers, Jeff. Hi Jeff the head is really 2mm craft foam raped arround a large 5mm fly rattle. but will keep it in mind if I make a all foam head.. thanks for the idea Chance
Joe Hard 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2009 Looks good but I think I would add weed guard, to make it weedless and help prevent those long strips from wrapping arround hook. I would even make the head dark on top or add markings. but it looks like a killer pattern for sure
TitanFlies 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2009 I'd use purple flash. Pike love them purple and chartruse.
