Hairstacker 0 Report post Posted December 21, 2009 Gel Spun thread is the best for deer hair bass bugs IMO I agree. Also, in addition to "spinning," also learn and practice "stacking" deer hair. -- Mike
Flyfish Dog 0 Report post Posted December 21, 2009 I like Danville Flymaster +Plus+ thread. For smaller flies, I use gel spun or 3/0.

dafunk5446 0 Report post Posted December 21, 2009 +1000000 to GSP I prefer a 50 denier for deer hair work
JSzymczyk 0 Report post Posted December 21, 2009 GSP, just get some and save yourself a lot of time. I would suggest at first using 100 denier, if not 200 for bass bug work. 50 will cut the hair a little easier if you put too much tension on it= 100 and 200 have less tendency to cut the hair. Avoid Kevlar. Heavy nylon is also good, but not as good as GSP.

Craig Elcich 0 Report post Posted January 4, 2010 I have used unscented waxed dental floss for 20 years and never had a problem, give it a shot. The only pain is transfering it from the dental floss holder to an empty spool. When you choose a bobbin use a magnum.

jschmidt63 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2010 Im all for gelspun too, used many and its the best; slick, thin and strong. Also, you need a really good bobbin, strong with ceramic tip, like a Ryte Bobbin (spelling)

FKROW 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2010 I second the recommendation for size A rod wrapping thread. I have used almost all threads and return to the Gudebrod "A" thread. Regards, FK
