David Legg 0 Report post Posted January 14, 2010 My daughter and I were playing around on the vises last night, and she said she wanted to try something new, but she didn't know where to start. I showed her how I would do it, and just grabbed the first three bits of material that were laying around my bench... I whipped together a bizarre little contraption, like to be unlike anything any sane tyer would put together by intent. The idea was to show here that it is ok to experiment and create something outside of the normal boundaries. She promptly picked up some materials, and went to work. I've never seen anything quite like what she tied, and now I want to get it on the water and see what's what. She is now really excited about the artistic side of tying that allows her to express herself in the medium of fibers, tinsel and feathers. It's a good start. I have lots of fun trying to come up with some of my own creations. This past spring I tied a black and blue foam bug that I was experimenting with and caught a couple bass on it and lost three good ones on that pattern it felt so good that I had tied something of my own and they caught good fish. Tell her to have fun with it. tye and fish FF13
