Anybody have recipe for Rainy's Carp Snack

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if anyone has the pattern recipe for the Rainy's Carp Snack fly? I've seen the pattern for sale at various websites but can't find the pattern recipe to tie some up for myself.

Thanks!

Looking at the fly, I agree that it is probably an egg yarn, but probably tied on to mono, or even glued on to mono and trimmed to the corn shape. Rainy is a genius at combining common techniques into distinctive flies (which can be commercially tied).

IMO, this looks more like a fly to catch fishermen than fish.

You could tie 3 strands of heavy mono ( say 20lb) on to the hook then cut out 3 smaller rectanglular pieces of yellow furry foam, fold furry foam over on itself and cut into a corn kernal shape ( do 3). Unfold foam and coat inside with CA and then fold on to the tips of the mono coming of the hook. You end up with 3 kernals of yellow corn. You are tring to imitate a hair rig that bait fisherman are using for carp. Pic is 3 posts down .

this might look like it would catch the fishermans eye. well fishing with corn is a great way to catch trout, bluegill, carp, and a bunch of different type of fish. But some people say that canned corn can kill trout so a fly that looks something that looks like would probably work very well.
