Gene L 0 Report post Posted June 21, 2012 I use an Anvil Apex rotary vise. I am looking at upgrading from a kit vise and im really looking at that same vise. Any pro's/con's you wouldnt mind throwing out to me? I think it's a good vise. I had one, upgraded it, but it was a fine vise. It's not a true rotary vise, but it does rotate to where you can see the other side of the flies. The jaws are grooved and it holds the hook well. For me, the stem is a bit short for a C clamp, but it's OK with the stand. I wish the stand had a larger footprint for bearing down on spinning deer hair. It's a very good vise at a very good price. You can't go wrong.

Orvis4wt 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2013 I use a DanVise, full rotary.. the only thing that is bad about it is when you put really small hooks in the paint chips off the inside of the tips and then you have to move your hooks back in to the jaws more to hold the hook.. The good thing is the replacement jaws are only ten dollars.. the vise only cost 75 dollar to buy also.
