JSzymczyk 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2010 Very cool. I like rabbit strip flies, but I really hate fishing them. Or, I really hate CASTING them. I have caught quite a few LMB on my light spinning rod casting them though...
cspears0006 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2010 That's a great tie Big Daddy Hub, very nice. May borrow that one for my box. Man I don't know about the western part, but we are burnin the crappie and bluegills up right now in the Eastern part.
BigDaddyHub 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2010 same here...big bull gills are moving in very shallow water right now. Unusually warm weather is pushing them into the shallows and into the open flats chasing small baitfish and bugs. Hope to get out this week and see if the whites are moving upstream as of yet

I have caught quite a few LMB on my light spinning rod casting them though... Gotta cast Belgian style with those rabbit strip flies. In fact almost all of my heavy streamers are cast that way. I just aim about a foot or so to the left of my target (cuz I'm right handed) and I don't usually have a problem. BTW BDH, Kick ass fly!!! I lve it, you know I'll be copyin this one, maybe put some freak style in there and let er rip. I will throw some red chickabou behind that mallard as gill flash, it 's kinda like my signature on my big streamers.
BigDaddyHub 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2010 Thanks Freak! This one really isn't that big....maybe 31/2 ( a hair more maybe) inches total. Not a problem to cast on any of my 8 wts. Hopefully I'll get a chance to fish it this week.
