Crawfish/Crustacean Eyes

Recommended Posts

What do you usually use for crustacean eyes?

Melted mono, dumbells, beadchain?

I've also used straight pins with the round ball on the end two slightly bent work well.

I like floral picks for shrimp eyes there are some nice oval shaped seed lookin things that work well for these.

What else have you used for crustacean eyes?

I saw a crawfish I liked (might even have been on this site), that had eyes made from the bristles from a hair brush. One of those brushes that has bristles with little balls on the end. I searched around and found a suitable one at the dollar store.

Glass beads on mono with an epoxy coating. Lots of color possibilities from a bead store.

Mono, bead chain, straight pins, really all depends on what I feel I need for that particular application. Most of the time it's mono or mono with a glass bead dipped in epoxy.

I agree. The hairbrush thing is the best idea I've seen. I've yet to get the hang of making mono eyes. More often than not, mine come out looking pretty crude.

:dunno:
