navigator37 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2010 For the life of me, I can't find what model of hook this is. Could anyone help me out here. Maybe it's an obvious make to some of you here but the pictures on the net selling hooks are kind of unclear. Is it a Mustad?
flytire 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2010 its a scud hook or an egg hook but i'm not sure of the brand what website is the photo from??
navigator37 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2010 No web site. I had it in my container of old fly hooks. I think I may have found it now. TMC 2457 ?
rockworm 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2010 Looks to be about 3 x short, curved shank, extra wide gape, forged, turned down eye. I can't place it. Looks like a shorter version of TMC 2457.
Jeremy Parker 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2010 Looking at the construction of the hook, its the cheaper method of making a hook!! I believe this to be a Mustad hook looking at the Eye configuration and the way the barb is made? TMC barbs are much finer made? They have hooks called heavy scud hooks i think this is one of them! flytire 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2010 i dont believe its a tiemco 2457 or even a 2487. check out the umpqua website. maybe this one tiemco 2488 or 2488h
troutguy 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2010 Did you ever Steelhead or salmon fish Great Lakes region? It looks like a heavy wire egg hook that they sell for these plastic artificial eggs. They make good Chech nymph hooks.
Jaydub 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2010 I don't know what it is but it's not any of the TMC hooks mentioned.
whatfly 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2010 Agree with Jaydub. Not a Tiemco. Looks like a Mustad C67S except for the down-eye. Perhaps an older discontinued version of the Mustad hook? Also reminiscent of the bait hooks used for single salmon eggs, but those are usually up-eye.
navigator37 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2010 Found it in some old receipts I had stored. It's a Partridge K5A heavy scud hook. Thanks for the input guys.
