navigator37 0 Report post Posted May 18, 2010 Regarding selling flies. I know for the lone tier, there isn't much to be made from selling flies. What do you think of selling ' walleye flies' for ice fishing. ' Looks like a fly, fishes like a jig' would be my motto. These are heavily weighted with lead wrap underbody and a tungsten head. Some have a wire wrapped over lead. They sink very fast. How much more would you charge for a fly like this for ice fishing? Could I get away with charging more? I'll try selling them next fall, about five or ten in a box. What do you think? Is it worth it?

If they work well, it might be worthwhile selling some. They look like they're simple to make. Only one way to find out! As far as what to charge, you'll have to be competitive, but that's up to you what you want to charge for them. How much are they worth to you? Guest rich mc Report post Posted May 19, 2010 first thing to consider is do they catch fish? other being a tired of the cold ice angler , how does it present over being tied on a jig hook. rich
navigator37 0 Report post Posted May 19, 2010 They do catch fish but have their good and bad days like everything else. I'm experimenting with different hooks. Down turned eyes will give it a more jig like movement in the water of course. Glow in the dark flies are another option as well. Hook gap that allows you to bait a fly with a small minnow or worm. I have small wooden boxes which I bought for 1$ a piece from Giant Tiger to put them in. I'll really have to figure out prices as I don't expect to make very much but something would be nice. ChuckingFluff 0 Report post Posted May 19, 2010 Nice little ice flies, I'd fish them for perch, bluegill, crappies and walleye. Little ice fishing jigs usually run me a couple of bucks for 2 or 3 in a package. I'd pay for those they look sweet.
