FoulHooked 0 Report post Posted June 22, 2010 you can try changing up your fishing technique as well. i know hooksets can be tough fishing in tight conditions on upstream casts, and casting itself is pretty tough. try drifting and swinging soft hackles or winged wet flies or small streamers at downstream angles. you can get away with simple roll casts this way, mends are easy, and since the first thing the fish sees is the fly, they're less likely to be spooked. not to mention, you will (when swinging) have tension in the line and the fish will often hook itself on the take. TPugliese 0 Report post Posted June 22, 2010 Hi TNflytier, I've just picked up FF too. I found some great information from some online video's by GARY BORGER. Do a Google video serch of "Fly Fishing For Trout" If I remember right there is a sieres of six, 8-10 minute video's with a ton of info on tecniques for different situations on the river.
