deeky 0 Report post Posted June 14, 2010 $170 for a light???? That's more than I paid for my vice. Go to Menards to the electrical section. You can pick up one of their broad spectrum desk lamps for something like $20. It gives you color very near daylight, has a swing-arm to put over the fly, and is plenty bright (my pupils have to re-open when I look at the tv). Plus, being a broad spectrum, it will chase away the winter blues and bump up your vitamin D over the winter. Yeah, I'm cheap, but it just works too well. ducksoup 0 Report post Posted June 26, 2010 I use the 18w Ott flex table model for my bench and the 13w task lamp for my travel kit. I love the true color lamps and the fact that they stay relatively cool in my small tying room.

JSzymczyk 0 Report post Posted June 27, 2010 found 100W equivalent standard base compact flourescent OTT full spectrum tube at Lowe's for $5.99! Got a clip light hanging off my shelf already which was about $10 a year ago. Lots of light, and the cost beats the hell out of the $100 Ott 13W lamp I had which crapped out. It's funny you should post that. I just got in from a day out and I picked up a 100w Equivalent compact fluorescent OTT full spectrum light at Michael's for $9 and a swing arm clamp on lamp from Office Depot for $8. After I started this thread, my previous light fixture also went out. I bought a replacement 13w bulb for it, which I obviously no longer need. I'm about to clean up my tying area and crank out some flies. I haven't tied in weeks. Parallel universe?
dilettante 0 Report post Posted June 29, 2010 I use an Ott light with a magnifying glass attached. Does the magnifying glass come with the Ott light? Or, is it a separate unit? Thanks.
Cheri 0 Report post Posted June 29, 2010 Use the folding Ott Lamp. I like it because it is portable and I can set up in the camper and tie.
