Woolybugger13 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2010 What kind of flies could I tie to catch Kokanee salmon? I caught Salmon using just normal lures but I would like to try some fies. I am only a beginner but can tie quite a few flies. What would you recomend? Thanks
Silver Doctor 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2010 For years I have done quite well with a small streamer, red body white wing fished deep on sinking lines.
DevinKaradeema 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2010 well boss crawdads work well. and IMHO would go more for a blue then a red (at the depth the kokanee are they cant see red any more its more grey to them) try a white tailed blue face bunny leach a nice 3-3 1/2 inch one. not trying to bash years of catchin fish tie up the red and white too. Old Hat 0 Report post Posted July 13, 2010 Any smaller fly of fluorescent color and lots of flash. Don't set the hook hard, they have soft mouths. Here is one recipe for the Kokanee Kandy Hook: #10 long shank Head: silver barbel eyes Tail: Fl. Orange Marabou Body: Fl. Orange Chenille with mylar mixed in (I think this is sold as "Polar Chenille") Wing: Pearl Krystal Flash
