Mr. Vegas 0 Report post Posted January 12, 2011 i wish I had an answer for you but I have never heard of the product till now.. Interested to see how it works. I looked for a youtube video but didn't find anything
Kirk Dietrich 0 Report post Posted January 12, 2011 60, "real crumby" doesn't really tell me what your problem is. A picture of the crumby tie would be helpful but I"m guessing the fibers are getting trapped under the wire when you wrap. These brushes are very sparse, I bought a few but now prefer to make my own "brush" with a dubbing loop. Anyway, when you palmer the brush, make sure you stroke the fibers back so when the wire wraps around the hook shank, it doesn't trap the fibers down. Just like palmering a feather. Don't know if that helped. Kirk
agn54 0 Report post Posted January 12, 2011 what Kirk said. Just pull the fibers back with your left hand as you wrap the wire with your right. I find that the wraps do not have to be on top each other but can be spaced out a bit since the fibers are usually an inch or more long. Here are a couple of minnows I tie with Streamer brush. The one on the bottom is the Barto minnow I also use streamer brush for the underbody on gurglers, it works great. check out the video for the Barto Minnow which you can find on youtube ( ) They were invented for bass but they make great mullet imitations in the salt
FlyFishin'Jam 0 Report post Posted January 12, 2011 +3....even if the fibers are getting caught by the hook its okay, just make sure u are brushing back with the left hand and not trapping any, watch the hook point, my thumb is peppered with holes from doing this, it can get rather 'stabby'. 1 more tip, buy a hair comb, after u have made some sort of lopsided beast run that comb through it with vigor (after removing from the vice and placing on your desk)...like comb it hard! Should sort it out I also fancy dubbing loops, i am so cheap i do not have dubbing wax but am using an uhu glue stick, seems to work *shrug*
Kirk Dietrich 0 Report post Posted January 12, 2011 Great looking flies AGN! I like the idea with the gurgler. Jam, that finger poke is even worse with the good sharp hooks we use. Kirk
