Druce 0 Report post Posted January 13, 2011 you know what it was your pattern I had seen originally. might I inquire about the pattern? Are you attempting to imitate fish with this fly and others of your selection similar to this one? The hackle that runs along the "belly" of the fly looks fantastic i wouldn't mind a few similar to this in my box for panfish and walleye. Old Hat 0 Report post Posted January 14, 2011 Thanks guys. Druce, I tied this pattern for steelhead. I'm sure, as most flies, it could catch a few species. The inspiration fort his pattern came from another popular pattern in my area called the "Beat's Me" which is a hairwing steelhead fly that utilized the peacock and pink color and the squirrel hair wing. It is not really trying to imitate anything, only attract metal heads. I don't do wing slips much as I'm not very good at them. The body feather is called Coque and is the long webby drooping feathers from the sides of a roosters tail. Often dicarded, but you can find nice ones on some cheaper saddles, or you can order some from FeathersMC.com Bryan - I'll put it on my list of SBS' to do. Been tying at shows lately so haven't had a lot of time at home on the vice.
