Foam Head Slinky Fiber Baitfish

Recommended Posts

Thumbs up Ray! These I definitely try on my sea trout. Imagine they´ll be killers during the summer nights, skating just subsurface.

Thanks for sharing

Cheers

:headbang: I'd say the speckled trout down south (seatrout) would hammer those too as well as reds. I may have to give them a try up here for bows and browns...

Ray,

Great looking flies. They would slay 'em on the flats and in the back country. What size cutter did you use for these?

Dean - This pattern is fished the same way you would a slider pattern. Cast it out and retrieve it in a strip-pause-strip motion. The angle of the head causes the fly to dip below the surface of the water while it is in motion. It will float back to the surface during the pause. If fished with a floating line, the fly will fish in in the top foot of the water column. If you used a sinking line, you can adjust the depth of the fly by changing the length of the tippet, allowing you to fish the fly just above the weed line. With a sinking line, I would recommend using a 4 foot fluorocarbon tippet.

Sweet flies, so sweet...Mmmm *strokes chin* Oh i had one question, when these are at rest do they float sideways or is the hook enough weight to keel them?

Those are sweet Ray! I'm going to try a few of them. I've tried crease flies, but these look better!
