I guess I'm not a suitable candidate to receive a box because of my activity on this site isnt enough and becasue the box 1 I received was sent to another member who is now sitting in jail and somehow his ass losing the box is now my fault. I liked how this swap was going when it started but thats face it these boxes have LONG turn around now (I remember these boxes were being passed every 3 days max) and many of the members have forgot what this swap was all about. This swap was created for users to get new materials and share with others while passing along a hobby/sport we all love, not to be told you dont have enough post on the site you cant receive a box. mybadhabit 0 Report post Posted August 27, 2012 Jordan, the pm to you about why I was leery of sending the box to you was for you to understand the updated "terms to participate". For all who aren't familiar with them, several of us discussed new ideas to keep the boxes in circulation, these are not "My" rules. As I explained to you two of the boxes are now out of circulation because they were sent to inactive members who have decided to not send them on to the next person in line for reasons only known to them. One box will probably never be seen again since he is doing time, the other is in possession of Bambuddah, and was supposed to have been sent out over 2 months ago, he's had it for much longer than that. Both of these recipients were members that had low posting numbers and long periods that there were no postings from them. This on its own means that they are hard to reach and usually don't keep the thread updated on what's going on, therefore they are unreliable individuals to send boxes to. We have found that members that have low participation in the forum have a lower sense of loyalty to the group and are much more likely to do as the aforementioned members have done, and not sent the boxes on to the next member. Since these boxes contain a lot of materials and are valuable, it isn't a good idea to send them to people that have a depleted sense of duty to the group. I've taken the time to go thru the members that have received the boxes and they seem to sit with members that have low posting numbers, they have been stalled before with other members, but those individuals send updates with why they haven't been able to send the boxes out. If you had something valuable and someone you see once in a while wanted to borrow it, would you give it to them knowing you might not see it for several months, if ever? I don't have the authority to tell you that you can't receive the box, it is my choice as to who to send it to based on my best judgement. Since you were the one who sent it to the member who now sits in jail, it is my choice to choose another member to be the next recipient. I don't have a personal problem with you, and I hope you understand that. The conclusion of the group that discussed some new restrictions on the boxes thought it would be a good idea that receivers of the boxes have no less than 100 posts. I think that is a great idea since it shows that that person has invested some time on the forum and is viewed as being an active member rather than a random visitor. I hope this clears it up for you and future members that would like to receive the box, it isn't that we hold it against you, rather we would like you to meet certain requirements that would gain our trust rather than sending it to anyone and never seeing the materials again. Margaretann 0 Report post Posted September 2, 2012 I have recieved the Box that Riff sent me. I have got what I wanted and now in the process of spicing it up a bit. I will then be giving it to Blane on Wendsday, since I will be seeing him at our local Bass Pro for our weekly fly tying demo.n I also wanted to volunteer to get one of the other boxes. I know that I have gotten this box before, because of the contents of the box that is still in there from last time. I have taken those out and donating them to a few new tyers and put something else that I hope someone will like and use. mybadhabit 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2012 I finally made it by the post office today to file a claim with the postal inspector about box #1, I should hear back from them within a week as to what is going on with it and what they will do about it. He was supposed to get the box off over 2 months ago and I haven't seen it yet so I wanted to call him and find out what's going on with the box. Any help would be appreciated. Margaretann 0 Report post Posted September 20, 2012 Everyone I am so sorry that I haven't gotten the chance to get the box to Blane yet. I have had the worst luck ever! My poor car has died on me and with little hope of recessitation, even after I spent two whole checks on it. ;( so I haven't made it to our weekly fly tying demonstration to give him the box. It will be in his hands next week. Promise!! Or I will die trying!!!! I put lots of goodies in the box so I hope everyone enjoys when it does get back to you.
