Fran Betters Swap - Usual, Haystack or Ausable Wulff

Here is my pattern:

 

Ausable Bomber

Hook -Mustad 9671 2xlong size 12

Thread -Uni Fire Orange 8/0

Tail -Local Wood chuck

Body -Hare's Ear Plus Rusty Orange

Hackle - Grizzley and Brown

Wing - Calf Tail

Snow shoe rabbit fur and thread.

 

"There are you happy?!?!?! :bugeyes: Need a step by step? :dunno: Huh do yah? :angry: Well you ain't gettin one! :P its far to complicated and time intensive! :bs: BWAHAHAHAHAHA! :hyst: Just kidding, just kidding" he mutters and kackles :ban: as he shuffles off to his fly tying room picking feathers and bits of deer hair from his head, gesticulating wildly :butt: at no one in particular.....

ok I changed patterns I will tye the Ausable Caddis fly

Hook Dry Fly

Thread Orange

Tail None

Body Hare’s ear dubbing

Wing White Calftail tied “down wing” style, length to bend of hook

Hackle Brown and grizzly mixed, heavily hackled

Head Orange thread

Tied the Ausable Wulff, pattern from Betters book.

Hook: Mustad 9671 # 12

Tail: Woodchuck guard hair

Wing: White calf tail upright divided

Body: Austrailian Possum and rusty orange Rabbit

Hackle: Grizzly and Brown

Thread: Hot Orange

Received some very nice brown Ausable Wulffs from Ibrb today. If the river will come down a bit (ie if the darn rain will stop), tempted to sneak one out and try it - the march browns should be popping.

We still have one open spot, and over a month left, if anyone is interested. Otherwise, I will return your extra fly if you tied 11.

In the mail this morning were some fine flies from kbranch.

 

I decided to tie some natural/dark Haystacks:

 

Hook: standard dry fly (Grip 11911BL #14, tied a little small)

Thread: Danville Flymaster 6/0, orange

Tail: deer hair (comparadun, dark natural)

body: natural otter (guard hairs removed)

hackle: deer hair
