Druce 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2011 shades of brown suggest sculpins and dark olive gobys you say beadhead try conehead to get it closer to the bottom rubber legs under the collar really liven this fly up as well yeah for some reason all the shops in town are out of cone heads, but these suckers are weighted with 13 lead warps of .25 and a 5/32 bead, the bead is large enough that the tapered hole pushes back the deer hair just like with the cone heads. The hooks are size 10 as that is the biggest i will go with fresh warm water fish, even though people like big hooks for bass/pike and all that, iv had way better luck on small patterns. The way these sit in my hand i can tell they will dive like crazy! i saw variations on google image with rubber legs, i was thinking i may have to try it, thanks for the tips bad fish! :headbang: on another note im thinking i may tie some up with a chartreuse body and or tail and black hackle for the early season walleye this year, they come in really close to shore right after season opener and you can get them on shallow crankbaits spin fishing for them so i thought that this would be the cats @ss! NoSlack 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2011 hey druce I was at the new shop at the Train Yards the other day, and I picked up some cone heads. they have plenty and in different colors. I used them on a stonefly I've been tying for steelies... If you can't find any at that store let me know and I can give you a couple! What size are you looking for??
