Kodiak Commando 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2004 Man this is a cool site and i am glad to be a part of it. I live in Kodiak Alaska. I am an 6'6' brown eyed 18 year old male and have been fly fishing since i was about 8 years old. At age 10 i moved here from Layton, Utah to my fishing delight. I flyfished mostly for rainbows, cutts, brooks and browns in Utah. Up here i fish for Cohos,Kings,Chums,Reds, and pink salmon. I also fish for rainbows, dollies and the occasional halibut. I have been tying for about 6 years. The biggest fish i have caught on a fly rod was a 58 pound king salmon on the talachulitna. My best fishing day ever was when i caught 42 Fresh silver salmon right on the kodiak road system.
Steeldrifter 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2004 Welcome aboard Kodiak, yup we kinda break the old mold of a fly tyer around this place..but we still are all serious about what we do Have fun and jump right in, we have swaps going all the time and in just over a month we also have the tyer of the year contest which is always fun so check that out. Would love to see a pic of that 52#salmon being a salmon fisherman myself i've taken some nice ones but here in the great lakes area we rarely get over 30#. Tiensuu 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2004 Welcome Kodiak I always wanted to travel to a Alaska and fish after those big salmon you guys got over there. Is it much snow there now or can still fish with dryflies? Here where I live the fly fishing season is over, it’s ice and snow everywhere
Guest Report post Posted November 14, 2004 Hey guys, you should see the "rainbows" up there. They're STEELHEAD sized. And yes, they're rainbows, not sea run.

skeet3t 0 Report post Posted November 15, 2004 Kodiak, welcome to the board! I have some kinfolk that took a cruise to AK and loved it. My daughter works for a doctor that was born & raised in AK and has some great photos of fishing in that state. Some show him sharing the water with some big bears. We look forward to your sharing photos and info in fishing in the biggest state in the USA.
