A little update though, I have since been using a "Glover's" needle, which is a three sided needled just like the one I made except they can be purchased at Tandy Leather Co. and come about 10 in a pack for about ten bucks. I have also hears of some folks using a regular sewing needle but chuck it in your dremel backwards, point in to the dremel - the eye of the needle has a flat profile and works the same as a three edged needle; for cork, though, I'd think you may need to sharpen that end a little to help impale the cork on to the blunt flat eye end of the needle.
