It was a tough day on the water, but target species acquired.

Here is one caught by Son Tao in Pennsylvania on one of his perfectly tied quill body soft hackle flies. It measured 30 1/8" long.

One of this mornings trout fooled with a #14 parachute dry.

Nice one, it's always exciting to catch one on a dry.

Gotta love chironomids.

Amazing that a trout that big would bother with such a small meal.

Now that's got to be his PB.

It's always puzzled me too, but on still water, my largest trout are usually caught with chironomids.

All my large trout have been caught on streamers but I've caught numerous big LMB (5-12lb)on some tiny stuff trying to catch Bream/Crappie after giving up on trying to catch Bass cause they just weren't bitting on my normal offerings..

No scientific proof but I'm a firm believer all fish grow up eating tiny things and recognize them as a food source.

Drop it In front of their face and antimate it so it looks crippled or wounded and they will eat it.

I'm really fond of the cigarette/beer retrieve....3 of my biggest bass have come from tossing to a weed line then setting the rod down to light a cig or grab a beer out of the cooler.
