Steeldrifter 0 Report post Posted July 18, 2021 Can you still call them "panfish" when they are too big to fit in most pans 😱 lol
caloosa bug 0 Report post Posted July 18, 2021 Thanks guys. It was fun. There ain’t much better than a bluegill’s sweet meat with skin coated in cornmeal and lemon pepper. Yum The river has cleared nicely after an early algae bloom and a lot of rain the last few weeks. It was a blast to cast from the bank out past the drop off. Then slowly retrieve a slow sinking bug with a few small twitches, letting it flutter down, then a couple twitches more to bring it back up within sight. Only to have it disappear in a flash and swirl just before reaching the shallows.

TIER 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2021 The stud came up, hit my dry fly (Size 12 mosquito) , and went back down to the bottom of the river and at that point I could barely move him with my 5/6 weight rod. He was a stud, coming in at 21 inches, which is a new PB for me. Btw according to the state anything over 17 inches is a trophy grayling.
niveker 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2021 Lots of catch-up yard work this week-end, postponed by the rains earlier this month, but I was able to sneak down to the lake for an hour or so Saturday evening and throw a dragon fly nymph pattern, orange was the preferred color by a bunch of little guys. DFoster 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2021 My wife and I are still slugging our way through a complete kitchen remodel so lately there's not much time for fishing or tying. I did get out last Saturday and after missing more than a few takes (out of practice I guess) I finally got a small stream bow and brook trout to hand. Plus I'm happy to report I landed my personal smallest fish ever after a mighty battle. A few more of those and I could open a bait shop. As a bonus I found a nice wood handle net hanging stream side in a bush in the middle of nowhere. The wood frame was in great shape. The net had a hole and will need to be replaced. As net material is not biodegradable finding it was good for both myself and the residents of the stream.
caloosa bug 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2021 Tossed the 8wt this morning for a little bit from the bank trying for a snook or big bass. Got this big Gill on a #1 ahrex tp streamer instead. 😲
