Fish Pictures

One more thing on the missing adipose fin - Here in michigan they'll clip that fin on steelhead to indicate that there is coded wire micro tag in it's head. If you catch one with the fin missing, you're supposed to record where it was caught, take all the measurements, cut off the snout and freeze it, and then send everything to the DNR. After they read the tag they'll send you a letter with all the information they have such as the age and where the fish was originally stocked.

Ah, thanks for the clarifications, guys.

Istripbuggers ... that last pic is a seriously off color mutation ... pretty!! Looks like it's got "Green", "Spotted" and "Red Breast" Sunfish genes.

Thanks mike, they sure are pretty, I haven't fished for panfish for so long, I forgot how hard they actually fight, a lot of fun on the 3 wt. I do use a photo editor on my iPhone but it really just enhances the color, they really where as pretty as the picture. I don't know much about panfish, so I was only guessing they where bluegills from my memories of catching them as a kid, if anyone can identify them as something different lemme know.

Went to Rocky Mountain National Park yesterday. It was a hard day but super fun. Got in to two browns that were in the 13-14 inch range. It was great.

When I was a teen ... my GrandParents had a cabin on Rice Lake ... in Ontario. We used to catch all kinds of sunfish and bass in that lake ... along with walleye, pike and perch.

You don't have them in Alberta ... anywhere? Oh, you're in the western part of the country. Still, I would've thought there'd be some there.

They are fun, but if you're catching trout, pike, perch, walleye, etc .... can't be all bad.

Nope, from what i know they are nowhere to be found in Alberta. A little west into BC bass can be found but not here. But on the other hand, i would take a pike over bass any day of the week.

Me and my dad took our first trip to open lake water this year. Pike FIshing!!!! We only caught a few small ones but it was still a great day. Plus, the constant chatter of yellow headed blackbirds made the whole day worth wile.

I love the bird pictures. We saw Yellow Headed Black birds in North Dakota ... several years ago. Never seen an Avocet before. Nice pictures of those birds, thank you.

Nice Pike, too. We get pickerel here in Florida ... the Chain variety can get up to about 35 inches, but my largest one is 28".
