Fish Pictures

Recommended Posts

I am such a fan of the Sunfish family ... there's a few "drab" members, but most of them have beautiful coloration.

AND they taste good ... AND no one complains when I keep some.

Thank you, guys. Steve ... well, all of you. These fish are even prettier in person. If you are in my area (come on down, Northerners) look me up and we'll go catch some of these.

Those are some good looking (eating) perch.

I know alot of perch out there will fight like bass.

And what were you using to catch those fish if you dont mind spilling your secrets.:/

1) Welcome to the site, Camocole.

2) This is a "perch".

Which is not a member of the Sunfish family, but in the family with Walleye and Sauger. I know Texas and a few other southern States call all small fish "perch", it ain't right.

3) If you look in the mouth of this one ...

... you'll see my Panfish Attractor.

I was going for a weedless (or at least, weed resistant) fly and ended with the Panfish Attractor. Then I got on this site and found out that it is similar to the Panfish Charlie.

Anyway, I use Raccoon tail for the hair because it keeps it's shape when wet.

It's been my most productive fly ever since.

I have to cull the pack and shoot a few several times a year. They start ganging up and destroying bird feeders, etc.

I've got four tails in the freezer right now. One of them will be going into the kitty litter for use ... probably this week. The other two are available, if you're close by.

But there are a couple of threads, already running, about raccoon. We don't need to hijack this "fish pictures" thread.

Wow, a monster!

Thanks. There have been many large rainbow trout caught this year along the north shore of Lake Ontario.

Sunfish have got to be some of the most colorful freshwater species. My daughter had a bluegill and a pumpkinseed in an aquarium when she was a kid. Feed them 1 worm a week. It was cool to watch them.

You got some great looking specimens there Mikechell.

Cheers, Ron...
