The last thing I want to do is start a battle here. OK.. But,, Mike, the fish in your hand is what I identify as a redbreast sunfish and not a long ear. Long ear are very colorful, like in first picture. The other two pictures are of red breast. Of course the last pic is of your fish. What do you think.

Yeah, could be, probably is a red breast. In Florida's coffee colored water, it's often hard to tell the sunfishes apart. With all year breeding going on, it's also possible to find many hybrids not seen in other parts of the Country.

I catch 'em, CPR most, eat some. I'm no expert on which ones are which.

Had a good day, There aren't enough sunfish species where I live to cause any confusion. And the bluegills typically don't get huge like they do in places down south. 8" is "angler award" size for C&R but this one is already filleted.

Nice batch of fish pictures, Joel.

Beautiful Bluegill, great mess of Crappie and a nice perch.

That's enough variety to keep me happy.

Yet another trout from the West Branch of the Westfield River. Caught on a large black stone fly.

Nice trifecta of fish, JS. Every time I see a carp, I miss (just a little) the North.

It's a Quillback Carpsucker, genus Carpiodes so not a carp in the current idiotic "bonefish of the north" fad sense. For the record they fight a little bit more than a wet rag, about like a largemouth bass. But for whatever reason, they take flies and lures at least occasionally.

Thanks, Piker. I love a good fight on a light rod. I just don't know why they are harder to find right now.

Nice peacock bass, Flats. I responded to the picture in another thread you posted on the same subject.

Mike you're doing it all wrong. Everyone KNOWS that down south you need a broomstick, a truck winch, and 80 pound test superbraid to catch bass.

Yeah, I'm trying to put that myth to rest by showing Northerner's it's not really like that down here. It's a misconception propagated by the "Deep South" bass anglers on TV.

Just an FYI ... Florida is not the "Deep South".
