What you are looking at it the first wrap of the UTC Vinyl Rib over the bare hook shank. The light is reflected back thru the material, after striking the hook shank itself. The rest of the body is wrapped over the top of the orange underbody, giving the orange look of the abdomen. If you change the color of the underbody, you change the overall color of the fly.
