michiganborn 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2012 This was originally going to be a thread about largemouth bass, but I think this'll be more interesting and fun! Post pictures, stories, etc of your largest catches made with a fly!
schaef 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2012 Well I don't believe I've posted on here yet, just a lurker, but since you asked.. 28.5" carp, I don't weigh them so just a guess but around 15lbs or so. The second is a 30" Steelhead, again don't know the weight but she was rather skinny, caught a few heavier ones but not longer.
Rocco 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2012 About a 25 lb King Salmon in MI on a Mickey Finn streamer. No picts available and my near zero cyber skills would not allow me to post them here if I had them. Rocco
FlyFishin'Jam 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2012 Yeah probably just these chinooks, get a shot at them each year and this one probably isn't the biggest but i don't really measure or weigh. They pull pretty nicely tho, like a fast forward carp with added jumps. Actually some go absolutely mental!
MowestFlyfisher 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2012 my first fish on the fly as well about 8 pound catfish caught on a wooly bugger and it broke my cheap as fly rod, but now have a much nicer one lol.

Druce 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2012 Yeah probably just these chinooks, get a shot at them each year and this one probably isn't the biggest but i don't really measure or weigh. They pull pretty nicely tho, like a fast forward carp with added jumps. Actually some go absolutely mental! Yeah i second Jam's biggest fish, in Sault Ste. Marie during the fall we get Chinooks and they are just huge! I had this inexpensive stiff a** 6 weight that i tortured on these big guys. I always remember my drag on the highest setting never being enough and id have to smash it into my stomach to get extra pressure. i COULD NEVER palm the real because the knob would cut my knuckles! hahahaha good times
michiganborn 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2012 Ah that's a cool story Druce I'm gonna chase them with my 6wt this year, unless I get a new rod before they start running
boutdoors 0 Report post Posted August 4, 2012 Great pictures, the largest I've ever caught was a 16" rainbow at Hot Ceek
KCcarp 0 Report post Posted October 3, 2012 I'm seeing some nice fish here!!! Mine would have to be this 34" common carp, caught on a crayfish fly of mine. I really love carp, fly fishing for them gets to be an obsession... There's just nothing like sight fishing to a fish as long as your arm and as finicky as a 1st. grader about what it eats. Tight lines all!!! -KCcarp
netabrookie 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2012 A rainbow a little over 25 inches on a 4 weight is my biggest on a fly so far. I have pictures, but can't seem to get them from my files to this forum. Theres some nice pictures on here and hope everyone keeps on catching them... Take Care... p.s. I have only got a carp about 5 pounds or so on a fly and it pulled like a bulldozer. I can only imagine the battle with a 15 pounder. Maybe some day I can get into a salmon or get a shot some steelhead
Istripbuggers 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2012 Brook trout about 18 inches last year. It was post spawn so it was slim but still a big boy for our area. I've hooked into a few over 20 but I could never get em to the net. In reality I've probably caught rainbows bigger but it thought it was worth a mention seeing as no one seems to ever mention the under rated brookie. Caught on my own black ant too! Woo picture of a picture!
Steeldrifter 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2012 This was before digital cameras were cheap and easy to come by as you can tell lol. But mine was a 41" 30lb King salmon from the Pere Marquette river (Michigan)...
TheCream 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2012 This carp from earlier this year was 26.25" and not easy to hold up with one hand: 29.5" Lake Erie steelhead: But sometimes size doesn't matter:
