Born and raised in Indiana ... left there when I was old enough and headed south to get out of the cold.

Lived in South Carolina, then joined the Marine Corps ... got "laid off" after Desert Storm and moved to Florida to go to Motorcycle school.

After working in the field for a while, I went back to that school in 1997 and started teaching what I'd learned in all my years.

Been fishing most of my life, fly fishing about a year less time. (I started like most kids, with live bait and bluegill jigs.)

Started tying about a decade ago, then fell out of it. Now I am back into it and with more enthusiasm than I've had for anything in a long time.

Can't fault you for your parents indiscretion...letting you be born somewhere other than Florida. I don't fault my parents for being in Tennessee (seminary) when I was born,I'm just thankful they got me to Florida before it was too late...so I grew up "Cracker"..

This is kind of a RE-introduction. Actually, it's an apology. I do not want replies, and may even ask Steve to close this thread to prevent a big discussion here.

 

Over the past couple of months, I seem to incite anger with my replies, more than any other emotion. I've been involved in several escalating threads that get ... ugly. My participation in these arguments is regrettable and, although I do not apologize for my opinions on those posts, I do apologize to all the "innocent" members who have to read these.

 

My opinions, based on 5 decades of fishing and a couple of decades of tying (off and on), do not fit with many of the attitudes of some members. I have blocked a few of these, just so I am not tempted to offer other opinions or suggestions that might kick off another ugly scene.

 

As of this date, I will try to be less confrontational. I will refrain from criticizing and only offer positive comments or original posts. To "turn over a new leaf" as it were.

 

Again, I do not need comments. I am just "introducing" the new me.

Mike asked me to lock this so people did not take it the wrong way. Before I do though Mike I just want to say you have nothing to apologize for IMO. It's the internet, people take things people say the wrong was quite often so no need to apologize.
