FlyFishin'Jam 0 Report post Posted August 16, 2012 !st day, pinks are running like crazy and some big salmon around too (chinooks) managed to land quite a few pinks so far on intruders, but i got a nice steelhead today too! upon grabbing the leader it snapped 15lb tippet like floss...More pics coming but this is 1st day! I have a vid but it is huge need to convert to youtube... Oh well 3 weeks in flyfishing paradise, it is a hard life! But then I think about the cold temperatures and think, "Nope, not me, I'll stick to my bass and warm weather!" Pretty fish and looks like a lot of fun. I don't know much of anything when it comes to salmon/trout (besides they taste good cooked and sushi style), but keep us posted! I'd like to take a trip to do that sorta thing one day! Hahaha mikechell, it's 31 C here! It's HOT! Carl with a nice pinky... Me with one of my midget fish lol Okay so we gotta start targetting the chinooks, but holy crap - landing those is pretty hard in the fast water... Please don't send snow yet, last year we arrived in Terrace for "Summer" around this time, now i didn't pack much warm stuff as they can often get to 40C, but stepped off the plane and it was 12C, cold! In flip flops and t-shirts, not good. Anyway i took some more pictures today...Jut more pinks as we are too lazy to try anything else yet, count today was between two of us about 17 landed. Just 1 good shot today fishing for little tiny cutthroats, on little tiny spey flies i did up. Such a pretty fish! I will save my pics for the next few days...
