Whitner 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2012 Hey guys. Here's how I stack EP fibers to get that look y'all were asking about. This was a quick tie and I didn't put my usual detail into it, but atleast you get the point. Hook size is a mustard saltwater #1. Tie in a few strands of crystal flash Next put it a little Marabou Then I splay a few grizzly hackles Next comes some mono eyes. I splurged and bought the EP shrimp eyes. They look better than when I burn mono myself for them. Next palmer in a collar of medium crystal chenille. Cut a swath of EP fibers an inch or so long I then spread it out and slide it on the hook so its even around the shank and tie it down. Then fold the forward fibers back and tie them in as well Dont forget to put some sili-legs in before the first bunch and a couple sets as you stack the fibers down the shank. You'll put 3-4 bunches in to cover the hook. Tie in some dumbbell eyes before your last bunch. You can leave a little space before the end to put a weed guard in too if you wish. So you end up with something that is very ugly before you trim it up. Take some time and make it pretty. Don't cut your legs when you trim either. I know we've all done that a time or two with Merkins. Hope yours turn out well!!!

Piker20 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2012 Thanks for spending the time on that one. Very simple but great result. I might mix the fibre for a mottled look.

I'm sure Ben posted that before he'd had his morning pint of tequila. Hey, now I know why you look familiar. I think I've seen you at the Thursday night crab lice support group. (Until I threw wife #2 out of the house for good, I was buying A-200 by the gallon.)

Peterjay 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2012 I liked wife #2 Yeah, you and half the Atlantic Fleet. I can't help but wax nostalgic whenever I think of her hitchhiking across the street from the main gate of the submarine base with a bottle of cheap vodka sticking out of her purse and a mattress strapped to her back. I still send Valentine's Day flowers every year to the family court judge who granted me a divorce.
