Murdich Minnows

Tied these recently for a saltwater swap on another site. I'm quite happy with the way they turned out. Tied on Mustad 3/0 S71S stainless hooks, and are about 6 inches in length. :)

There's an article on Fly Fish Ohio website by Joe Cornwall that gives a good SBS, although I used some different materials. In his article, Joe uses Flashabou in the tails, while I use a combination of Krystal Flash, Polar Flash & a few strands of holographic Flashabou, over a base of ultra hair. The Ultra hair is there to support the tail materials, lessening the chance for fouling. The body on my flies are tied with Ice Wing Fiber, pearl in the belly area & silver in the back, then a wrap of Hackle Flash. The Ice Wing Fiber transitions the tails & body nicely IMO. What I did is pretty much as Joe explains in his article. Since there are several similar materials on the market, I don't think you could go wrong with using any of them.

Very nice TW! I actually tie up a box of those for my vacation to the Eastrn Shore this past Summer...I love how bulky they are and how much water they move, but don't soak up water and become difficult to cast......
