Alex C. 0 Report post Posted January 4, 2005 What is the scientific name for wigglers? What kind of fly do these turn into? Also does anyone have a pattern for them? I was thinking of trying a wiggler fly for rainbows through the ice.
Steeldrifter 0 Report post Posted January 4, 2005 Wigglers are the nymph forum of the Hex fly (Hexagenia limbata) the largest mayfly in N.America The bears hex or Oscars hex are two of the better patterns for them.
Alex C. 0 Report post Posted January 4, 2005 that would probably be a great perch jig also, I am goin down to Higgins Lake tomorrow for rainbows, and will probably end up using live wigglers, but as soon as I get my vise in the mail I will try and tie those
getholdofjoru 0 Report post Posted January 5, 2005 skunked... I had this same question too. Went up North to fish and the hot patterns were wigglers. Too me that meant jointed flies but through inspection its those hex nymphs. Glad I'm not the only one wondering this.
