Crackaig 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2012 Thanks Kimo, its a sign of a misspent youth lifetime (don't think I can claim youth any more). It takes years of practice to become a degenerate fly tier. These where just a diversion from what I should have been tying. The first and last are on 14s (different models) the middle one is a 16s. Usually I try for something a little more indistinct in the body. These are far easier to tie than using stripped peacock. The moose has a natural taper to it which helps, On the nymph I used the thread underneath to build a slight taper just to help it along. I just wish I could find a parch of moose that had a 50/50 mix of white and dark hairs. My patch is more like 20/1 dark to light. Now I must hide them away or they will disappear when my fishing partner sees them! Cheers, C.

Wavey1988 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2012 I did some experimenting today, and came up with this. The body is hare's ear dubbed, with a fine silver tinsel rib. Then, I made a dubbing loop, and in that I put some fur from a hares mask, spun it and used the bubbing rope to make the hackle.

SCOwens 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2012 My flies from the start of the month Trying out some new Montana Fly Co eyes, not sure if I like them, I love the color but they are weightless dumbells Shrimp Crab Shrimp Cocktail Purple and Black Seaducer Electric Chicken Shrimp Not a clue what this is, but can't wait to feed him to some fish Little bit of my tying activites, 3rd shift makes it easy to tie, just drag the vice to work Most of these flies are pulled from the fly tying database, or closely resemble them
