cdc & foam caddis - step by step

Recommended Posts

A step by step of the cdc & foam caddis :-)

START BY DUBBING THE BODY. IN THIS CASE I HAVE USED CDC DUBBING WITH A TOUCH OF ICE DUBB.

TIE IN TWO CDC FEATHERS

TIE IN A PIECE OF RAZOR FOAM

MAKE A LOOP WITH THE TREAD TO ATTACH THE CDC FIBERS THAT IS TO COME

DUBB THE THORAX PART OF THE FLY

SPINN CDC FIBER IN THE LOOP BY USING A MAGIC TOOL OR A PAPER CLIP AND FOLD THE FOAM OVER THE CDC LIKE THIS.....

FOLD THE FOAM BACK TO MAKE A SMALL HEAD IN FRONT

IN THIS CASE I COLOR THE FOAM IN A COLOR OF MY CHOICE BY USING A WATER REPELLENT MARKER PEN

I ALSO COLOR THE CDC FIBERS IF I FIND THEM A BIT TO LIGHT

I CUT THE CDC FIBERS TO A LENGTH THAT I LIKE

THE CDC & FOAM CADDIS IS READY TO CATCH SOME TROUT

IT`KIND OF BUSY LOOKING TO HOPEFULLY CREATE A BIT OF LIFE ON THE WATER :-)

Very nice SBS Terje. I don't really use much CDC in my fly tying, but this one I may try.

I use CDC a lot, but mine don't look anywhere near as good as these!

Thanks for sharing, this is one that I will definitely be trying out.

Thanks a lot, Chris :-)

Terje, I have just been lurking for quite sometime but I could not keep quiet on this one. An excellent pattern you have here. It should serve you very well. I appreciate the step by step.
