What gets lost the most

Recommended Posts

I usually lose my religion when I'm tying peacock herl and I lose the three or four strands in my fingers after 10 wraps before I get the other end tied in......

This may sound odd, but I rarely lose anything anymore. If I do, it's usually a hook. Normally I'll lay out 10 hooks, then for some reason I only have ( this is before I've tied on any, any of you smartalecs out there lol). Usually one will catch on a material as I pull them out.

My biggest thing that used to get lost was my scissors. Why I always keep it on my finger while I'm tying. So they're always "in hand" while I'm tying. One of the best tips I read in a book years ago.

Well Jerry let me give you a tip, because I was doing the same thing keeping my scissors on my fingers while I was tying.

LOL. Lucky for me, I have big hands (wear an XXL glove). They sit low enough and back enough that I'm ok to scratch. LOL. Now, my luck, been doing it for this long and will scratch myself with scissors tonight. laugh.gif

Hands down, it's the hackle pliers. I have two sets, and usually starft out having both and by the end of the tying session I can find neither. Good thing the fingers are attached to my hands or that hackle would never get wound.

regarding lost hackle pliers...

I hang the english type (I think? oval shaped w/ loop spring on one side and jaws on the other) off the screw which holds the stem of my vise in place. that way I always know where they are when I need them. I only use these pliers for holding short pieces of ribbing wire. my rotating hackle pliers I hang off of a buldog clip clipped to my profile plate (a piece of dark blue illustration board/matt material).
