bigpikeflies 0 Report post Posted January 21, 2013 Will definitively catch fish. The color choice is great. Only to points. I personally have gone to 5/0 minimum hooks min cause I get better hook ups. I would be concerned with trying to get 30 pound flouro or wire through the hook eye, when it's 20 degrees out and i cant hardly move my fingers. After I took the picture of the pretty completed fly I cleared it out around the eye. Its a bit@h when you tie a big fly like that, get to the front and you are encroaching on the eye. Those are two 4/0 hooks. Generally I use 5/0 and 6/0 but ran out . The rear hook has no bucktail to increase hook up chances back there. The front has a fair amount but is still soft so I dont think will be an issue.
10wt Triton 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2013 What do you use for your articulation points?
Chefben4 0 Report post Posted February 10, 2013 What do you use for your articulation points? I prefer using wire for Musky and even then Ive seen flies bit in half. I have also used 50-80lb hard mono or fluoro. If you want the "good" stuff for musky flies look up Surflon Micro Supreme wire.

Chefben4 0 Report post Posted February 10, 2013 Thanks! They are deer creek gator eyez. Seem to match the fly well and have lots of flash!
