TheCream 0 Report post Posted January 31, 2013 I may be a little more wary about posting pics of my flies in the future. I just found out some dude had stolen a few of my photos and was passing them off as his work on his tying blog. Nothing real serious, obviously, but in my opinion it's a scumbag move. Guess it may be time to start watermarking all my photos. The blog in question has now been removed by the user after I emailed him and asked why he was stealing and using my images. scott.bearden 0 Report post Posted January 31, 2013 There is an individual going around doing that with bamboo fly rods as well. Â There is a international fly tyer on here that once caught an ebay store hot linking to his photos to sell their products. He had a little fun at their expense by putting hilarious photos with the same name in their place on his server. They were unaware for a week or two. Kirk Dietrich 0 Report post Posted January 31, 2013 Man I wish someone thought my flies and photos were worth stealing hell I can't even give them away I was thinking the same thing after I thought how much of a desperate scumbag someone would have to be to do that. Sorry to hear that Jeff, glad you caught it though. Â Kirk
Kudu 0 Report post Posted January 31, 2013 Sorry that happened man. You post some great stuff no wonder they wanted to use it. However, they should have asked your permission first and given you credit. I wish I had the computer skills to post a pic nevermind steal one and then reprint it. I hope you keep putting stuff on here though; I like looking at it.
Steeldrifter 0 Report post Posted January 31, 2013 Happens a lot more than you would think. Not even 2 weeks ago I was sent a link to another custom rod builders website by a friend that told me to look at his pictures because they looked familiar. Turns out he was using pictures of my work as well as a friends work on his rod business website to lure customers in. When confronted about it he said (and this is mind blowing to me) ...."He didn't know he was stealing because he never said it was his work, just showing examples of what can be done". That takes a lot of balls to say that. Needless to say he removed the pictures the very day we confronted him on it. Â Steve
Piker20 0 Report post Posted January 31, 2013 Just curious how you even stumbled on that? Were you lucky that you happened onto his blog or did an image pop up in a search you were doing for something else.
