tidewaterfly 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2013 I like the old classic bucktail Glass Minnow, but tied with Polar Flash. Over wrap the body with vinyl rib material. Works well to mimic a number of small baitfish. Clousers tied with Polar Flash also work well to imitate Glass Minnows.
DoubleHaul 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2013 Try Casey Smartt's Glass Minnow. Works great for snook under dock lights and is a quick tie. http://caseysmartt.com/2009/11/15/smartts-glass-minnow/
Capt Bob LeMay 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2013 I use quite a few different small glass minnow flies (most are meant to mimic bay anchovies). They're rarely any larger that 1/0 - the vast majority are #4 or #2 bugs. Here's one or two.... The first is my version of Norm Ziegler's Crystal Schminnow... the second is just called the Gold Bug and it's one of my own patterns... The first pic is in size #2 -note the wire weedguard... The next four pics are in size 1/0 from an order I did for my local shop (they use them in the surf, hence the larger size....). I couldn't find a picture of the Gold bug so I'll have to do one and attach it later... Hope this helps... Tight Lines Bob LeMay (954) 435-5666
agn54 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2013 small surf candies in all white work well. With UV glue you can put a thick layer on to make the clear body, and they will hold up well to the macks, blues and other toothy critters that often blast through the pods

phg 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2013 Gummy Minnows work well too, but then, it's debatable whether or not they are a fly....
