tidewaterfly 0 Report post Posted February 13, 2013 Some of you may know I drive a tractor trailer for a living. I'm usually out 2 days at a time & have a 10 hour layover about half way through my route. Since things have slowed down a bit after the Super Bowl, I've been taking a tying kit with me on the road & spending about an hour tying up some flies. The rest of the time I grab something to eat & get some much needed sleep. Here's the results! Hope you like them! Buggers & Clousers, just can't have enough of them! Tied on Daiichi size 1 worm hooks. Cactus chenille bodies.(Hareline brand) Daiichi 1710 hooks in size 4, brass bead heads. Electric blue Flashabou in the tails The Buggers are tied on Tiemco 3761 in size 2, the Clouser on a VMC 9255 in size 1/0. Holographic silver Estaz Metallique used in the bodies. Kirk Dietrich 0 Report post Posted February 13, 2013 Damn, the white ones look the most electric! It would have taken me hours to tie all of those! Nice ties. Keep on tying, Kirk

Fishypieter 0 Report post Posted February 14, 2013 Those flies will surely fool some trout here in South Africa.

tidewaterfly 0 Report post Posted February 16, 2013 Thanks for the comments! Kirk, I don't tie as fast as I used to, and since I'm tying while sitting in the sleeper berth of my truck, it's not the ideal place for speed anyway! If I can tie 5 or 6 flies like these in an hour, I'm good with that. I'm real happy with the way these turned out, I now have to get out & catch some fish with them! timeflies 0 Report post Posted February 22, 2013 I really like the chartreuse and red ones, now I want to make some small ones and try them on the local 'gills
birddogs 0 Report post Posted March 6, 2013 id like to try the white ones here in the texas flats,,,, maybe a little larger version though tom
tidewaterfly 0 Report post Posted March 6, 2013 birddogs, they'll work for Trout, Redfish & Flounder I'm sure! Maybe add some barbell eyes or other weight to them. Perhaps weed guards too. I primarily tie them for Crappies & Perch and size 2 & 4 work well ( we have both White Perch & Yellow Perch here) and would use them in these sizes for stream Smallmouths, but I've tied similar Buggers up to 2/0 on both saltwater hooks & straight shank worm hooks for LM Bass & occasionally for schoolie size Stripers.
