bkatz1 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2013 Hey guys I just wanted to throw a thread up about Chicago Fly Fishing Outfitters. I am a big advocate of supporting your local fly shop, however I am sure there are some guys out there that may not have a fly shop right down the street. Or maybe the shop is great for the local area but is lacking in the international selection. Chicago Fly Fishing Outfitters is my semi-local fly shop and boy am I lucky. Not only do they have first class selections of rods, reels, and absolutely everything else you need for fly fishing, the staff is helpful and professional. The guys at "Chi Fly" are pro's when it comes to the Midwest, and on top of that offer some amazing fly fishing trips all over the world. They cover the "Driftless" region of SW Wisconsin to the flats of Mexico. The only reason I put this post up was because I really think that Chi Fly is a great place and for someone like myself who found it only a year ago, I wanted to pass it on. If your not from the Midwest they have an excellent website as well, were you can order anything from full set ups to fly fishing apparel and tons of fly tying equipment. So for anyone out there who is limited on fly shops or is looking for something specific Chi Fly caries the best brands and offers the best information on fishing and products that I have come across. I know this was long winded but I am a very satisfied customer and new friend. I hope that everyone on the forum has a place like this that they can go hangout or reference for help! If not here it is! Check them out and see for yourselves. http://chifly.com/

lowandloud 0 Report post Posted February 27, 2013 Agreed! My wife and I were In Chi-Town on vacation not too long ago. I made it a point o make the walk from downtown to the fly shop. Glad I did! Fantastic store! I wish we could get one that nice here in OKC...We only have one "local" fly shop with a limited selection. I still prefer it to Bass Pro. Love Chicago...Hope to actually fish up there some day.

Chefben4 0 Report post Posted February 27, 2013 I used Chi-Fly exclusively for a couple years. To the point I got to be "known" by the guys from my many phone calls tracking stuff down. Last memorial day I made the drive to Chicago from Michigan. One of my stops..Chi-Fly. Stopped in, saw Andy, and told him who I was. He proceeded to yell to all workers who walked in the door. It was awesome. They are a GREAT bunch of guys and its a fantastic store. If you go to Chicago and you fly fish its without a doubt a must stop. Sadly, I have found myself ordering from a different company for a while. Reason? Shipping costs. Its nothing against Chi-Fly its just saves me some money. zOnk 0 Report post Posted February 27, 2013 I've placed online orders with them in the past -- just don't get into the city often enough to visit the shop. I do need to pick up some hen necks soon and I'll have to visit them. I just don't order necks online because I like to inspect them first.
